Paula Deen has already lost her Food Network show, thanks to her amazingly clueless comments about African-Americans (and Jews, and gay people). Now she may lose her QVC deal too.
The home shopping channel features Paula Deen's Kitchen, an extensive cookware collection. But get that Signature Cast Iron Hoe Cake Pan while you can, because QVC sounds ready to bolt.
"QVC does not tolerate discriminatory behavior. We are closely monitoring these events and the ongoing litigation. We are reviewing our business relationship with Ms. Deen, and in the meantime, we have no immediate plans to have her appear on QVC," they said in a statement, according to E! Online.
Poor Paula is losing her revenue streams left and right. Maybe she can sell her life rights to Lifetime at least. "Too Racist to Sell Pans: The Paula Deen Story."
Deen recently gave testimony for a deposition in a lawsuit against her and brother Bubba Hiers, who co-own a seafood restaurant. Lisa Jackson, a former manager at the restaurant, is suing them for sexual and racial discrimination. When asked under oath, “Do you ever use the N-word?” Deen responded “Yes, of course.”
Deen was rather vague about when she would have used the word – she says she might have used it when “repeating a conversation between blacks.”
“Things have changed since the ’60s in the South,” she said. “And my children and my brother object to that word being used in any cruel or mean behavior. As well as I do."
