“Today” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie is engaged, she revealed this morning on the show. Guthrie was all smiles as she debuted a gorgeous engagement ring from her new fiance, political consultant Mike Feldman.
Savannah’s coworkers rushed to congratulate her via Twitter, as Miss Manners demands. “Big news from Savannah!” Matt Lauer tweeted, along with a picture of a beaming Savannah sporting some serious bling.
Chuck Todd, meanwhile, kept his eye on what’s really important: The finish on the “Today” show furniture. “Hey @feldmike, it’s clear @SavannahGuthrie is doing serious damage to the @todayshow table. So exciting,” he tweeted. I assume he meant that her diamond scratched the varnish, but I prefer to imagine that she’s so overcome with romantic excitement that she’s turned into a table-smashing hulk.
The gang at “Today” are probably relieved to have some good news to share. They’ve had a rocky road in the ratings and in public opinion polls since Savannah Guthrie replaced Ann Curry as Matt Lauer’s co-host last June.
“For all of you who saw me as a groundbreaker, I am sorry I could not carry the ball across the finish line. But man, I did try,” Ann Curry told viewers in an emotional farewell.
