Tom Cruise has finally admitted that his religion played a role in his split from Katie Holmes, though he takes issue with the idea that Holmes had to “protect” their daughter, 7-year-old Suri, from Scientology.
“Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes,” Cruise says in a deposition obtained by Radar Online when asked if Holmes gave protecting Suri from the church as one of the reasons for leaving him.
“I find those statements offensive,” Cruise said. “Like with any relationship, there are many different levels to it. You know, I find it very offensive. There is no need to protect my daughter from my religion.”
He also later conceded that Suri is not currently practicing Scientology. Cruise issuing Bauer Publishing, which owns In Touch magazine, over its cover story that he “abandoned” his daughter Suri.
