VIDEO: ‘Tommy Pickles’ actress stuns on ‘The Voice’

E.G. Daily, the voice actress who portrayed Tommy Pickles in the beloved Nickelodeon series “The Rugrats,” stunned judges on “The Voice” yesterday with her rendition of “Just Breathe” by Faith Hill.

Daily has spent a long time in Hollywood limbo: She was in the 1983 movie “Valley Girl” with Nicolas Cage, played Dottie in “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure,” and provided voice work for popular cartoons like “The Powerpuff Girls.” It’s no wonder Christina Aguilera asked Daily why she looked familiar — she recognized her from the Pee-Wee Herman film. Daily even unleashed her Tommy Pickles voice much to the audience’s surprise and amusement.

Daily, 52, belted “Just Breathe” with her signature raspy voice and prompted both Blake Sheldon and Cee-Lo to turn their chairs while her two daughters with ex-husband Rick Salomon — yes, Paris Hilton sex tape’s Rick Salomon — cheered backstage. The two stars duked it out over who was more of a “natural fit” to mentor Daily and Cee-Lo jokingly tried to bribe Daily with an offer to put her in touch with Rod Stewart’s agent. In the end, Daily chose to be on Team Blake.

It seems a little strange that Daily, who sang songs for multiple soundtracks, including the one for “The Breakfast Club,” should have the opportunity to be on a show for undiscovered talent, but it’s hard to say no to Tommy Pickles.
