US-CULTURE-CHRISTMAS-ROCKEFELLER-TREE

Metro’s Wednesday night TV breakdown.

‘Christmas in Rockefeller Center’
SPECIAL. This is the live telecast of the 81st annual lighting of the massive tree in Midtown Manhattan. Artists including Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Kenny “Babyface” Edmunds (hey, where’s he been?!) perform, and Al Roker hosts. Let’s hope Al doesn’t get so excited about the big event that he poops his pants again. Or, you know what? Let’s hope he does. A merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
8 p.m., NBC

‘Revealing: Face Value’
DOCU-SPECIAL. The second installment of this special that “investigates” society’s obsession with physical beauty features famous people who make a living profiting from society’s obsession with physical beauty (and subsequently fueling the body image crises and eating disorders of teen girls nationwide!) like designers Jean Paul Gaultier, Carolina Herrera and Zac Posen, supermodel Iman and more. To “investigate” the subject, a professional makeup team takes two identical twin girls and makes one “beautiful” and one “ugly” and sends them out into the world to see how people react. Any guesses who is more well-received? [Spoiler alert: It’s not going to be the uggo.]
9 p.m., SUNDANCE

‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’
MOVIE. ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas continues with a screening of this classic holiday flick in which the Griswolds try to celebrate Christmas without mucking it up. If you haven’t seen this movie before (to which our only response is “whaaaaa?”) then here’s a hint: They totally muck it up.
8 p.m., ABCFAM
