Barstool Sports founder isn’t sure if Seth Meyers is a true Boston sports fan

Thanks to five Super Bowl wins, three World Series titles, an NBA championship and a Stanley Cup victory, Boston sports fans have gotten pretty used to winning since the dawn of the 21st century.  No wonder why Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is confident that his hometown teams will continue to dominate as the years go on.

The media wunderkind stopped by “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Wednesday to chat about the bright future of Boston sports. As expected, “El Pres” isn’t worried about his beloved Patriots or Red Sox losing any steam.

“I actually think it can go on forever,” the Bay State native said of his teams’ winning ways. “I legitimately do. I don’t know what losing feels like.”

If his bright blue shirt featuring NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as a clown wasn’t a giveaway, Portnoy has never been shy about going after Boston sports haters and critics. While Meyers, a Red Sox fan who hails from New England, has some local cred, the Barstool Sports founder did have some questions about the late-night host’s allegiance to the city’s other popular team.

“I do not care for the Patriots,” Meyers said, prompting Portnoy to jokingly reply, “That’s why I don’t know if you can be an ‘us.’ You’re half and half.”

The conversation apparently brought back some bad memories for Meyers, who claims that he always gets flak from Bostonians when he tells them he’s from New Hampshire.

“Every time I go to Boston, people are like, ‘Where are you from?'” Meyers said. “They act like New Hampshire is f–king California.”

The “Saturday Night Live” alum went on to pick Portnoy’s brain over the Patriots and if he’d rather have Tom Brady stick with the team over the next few years, or head coach Bill Belichick.

“Belichick, no brainer,” the Barstool Sports founder said. “Belichick’s the guy.”
