Kit Harington has heavily suggested that every episode of Game Of Thrones season 8 will have a feature-length running time, something that has long been rumored.

While the 30-year-old English actor didn’t officially confirm this news, he did tease that the 80 minute long season 7 finale The Dragon And The Wolf was merely a warm-up to the show’s final six episodes.

“For me, the length of it, it being an hour and 20, really sets up what to expect for next year. I think that was a tester, that final episode, of seeing whether we can make an episode that kind of length and with that amount of story going on,” Kit Harington remarked to Deadline. “For me, it’s a really good way of finishing the season, doing that sort of length.”

“I think where the season has suffered a bit is that you’re trying to pack so much into seven one-hour episodes. Whereas now, with the finale and going into the final season, we’ve got a bit more time in those episodes.”

Back in July, Game Of Thrones’ sound designer Paula Fairfield admitted at the Con Of Thrones fan convention in Nashville, Tennessee, that they were “considering” making each episode of its final season feature length. Looking back at its most recent season it certainly feels as though the show has been building to this, too.

Beyond The Wall, the penultimate episode of season 7, briefly became the longest episode in the show’s history thanks to its 70 minute running-time, only to be eclipsed just one week later by The Dragon And The Wolf’s 80 minutes. This is a record that the episode will hold for quite a while, because Game Of Thrones fans won’t get to see season 8 for at least a year. In fact, it has even been suggested that Game Of Thrones season 8 won’t actually premiere until 2019.
