Rick and Morty Season 4: What we know so far

In May, Adult Swim confirmed there will be a Rick and Morty Season 4, but the bigger question now is when will fans get to see the animated comedy series again?

When Adult Swim said it has ordered 70 new episodes, show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland knew they would have to get busy putting together plot ideas for Season 4 of Rick and Morty.

The Season 3 finale of Rick and Morty released on October 1, 2017, and it has been almost a year since fans have heard any news about Rick and Morty Season 4.

According to Digital Spy, Rick and Morty Season 4 is officially in production, Co-creator Justin Roiland told Polygon that it’s “exciting” and “a little surreal” that Rick and Morty Season 4 is in its early stages of production.

Rick and Morty fan sites

While we’re all anxiously waiting for the fourth season of Rick and Morty to drop, fans of the Adult Swim comedy can be apart of the growing Rick and Morty fan community by checking out dedicated fan sites such as The Galactic Federation, Dan Harmon Sucks, or the official Rick and Morty Facebook page, where you can always get your fill of Rick and Morty memes and clips to hold you over until season four.  If you want to delve deeper into the show and discuss topics with other fans, the Rick and Morty Reddit page is a good place for that.

Rick and Morty Season 4: How many episodes can we expect to see?

By now we know that Adult Swim has ordered 70 episodes of Rick and Morty but it’s still unclear if all 70 episodes will be part of season 4.

The first season of Rick and Morty had 11 episodes and both seasons two and three had 11 While its fair to believe the fourth season could have a similar amount of episodes for the fourth season, Adult Swim did say it ordered 70 episodes of Rick and Morty, so that means the show creators will need to stay creative and make sure they can deliver.

Rick and Morty Season 4 release date

We already know that show creators are currently working on Rick and Morty Season 4.

The grand finale of season two aired on October 4, 2015. The first episode of Season three aired almost two years after the season two, indicating that there was more than a year of production time between seasons.

While there is no official word yet, if you’re looking at how much time it takes to prepare for a season, we might not see Rick and Morty Season 4 until 2019.

In fact, show writer and producer Ryan Ridley also told The Detroit Cast that he’d be “surprised” if a fourth season would air anytime before 2019.
