Grownish Premiere January

“The Bachelor,” ABC (January 1)
“The Bachelor” is back! The bachelor in question is, unfortunately, not Peter Krause, but Arie Luyendyk Jr, who hails from Emily Maynard’s 2012 season of “The Bachelorette.” Come for the standard drama of a “Bachelor” season, stay for — well, the standard drama of a “Bachelor” season. Here’s hoping it’s at least as diverse as Rachel Lindsay’s season.

“grown-ish,” Freeform (January 3)
The long-awaited “black-ish” spin-off promises to have all of your favorite bits from the latter, but with a new, young edge. And yes, it will be as topical (and funny) as its predecessor. “They’re going to be dealing with subject matter for young adults living on their own for the first time,” Anthony Anderson told us in October. “The freedom that they have as these college students, dealing with sex, dealing with drugs, dealing with alcohol, dealing with newfound responsibility.” Doesn’t hurt that the young, magnetic Yara Shahidi is finally getting her chance to shine.
