All the TV series premiering in February

Altered Carbon, Netflix (February 2)
You start out thinking Altered Carbon is one thing — a Blade Runner 2049 knockoff, with its bleak future and great jackets and unsolvable crimes — but it’s not quite that. It absolutely has similarities with the 2017 film, and its bred from the same neo noir, cyberpunk trappings. But it’s far more procedural: think, Snowpiercer meets Castle, but much more stylish.

Sometimes, it seems like there’s much too much going on in this alternate future-verse, where nobody ever really dies and instead their minds are thrown into new bodies, aka sleeves. But it’s really, really fun and the cinematography is banging. Also banging? Joel Kinnaman as Takeshi Kovacs, tall and brooding and soooo serious. Tune in for a sexy, dystopian mystery that’ll have you on the edge of your couch — or wherever else you choose to binge.
