Christmas comes early, apparently, as the first official, rollicking trailer for Quentin Tarantino's western, "The Hateful Eight," has hit the Internet. It's extra satisfying becuase this movie almost didn't happen, as Tarantino initially planned to scrap the endeavor after the script leaked online — causing him to threaten to sue Gawker as a result. But he changed his mind, tweaked the story and got back to work.

The trailer offers tantalizing glimpses of all the things you'd expect from a Tarantino story: Snappy dialogue, dangerous characters, Samuel L. Jackson explaining one charcter's bad-ass bona fides to another. Oh, and lots and lots of bullets. Bring on the holidays!
