Netflix released its trailer for one of its new spring shows, “Dear White People,” on Feb. 8 and set the Internet ablaze with controversy, causing some subscribers to cancel their Netflix accounts.

The show starsLogan Browning,Brandon P. BellandAntoinette Robertsonas students of color at an Ivy League University where issues of race are often ignored. The trailer opens with Browning’s character making the following statement to the student body:
“Dear white people: Here’s a list of acceptable halloween costumes — pirates, slutty nurse, any of our first 43 presidents. Top of the list of unacceptable costumes? Me.”
Theshow, which is a spin-off of the 2014 movie of the same name, is set to premiere on April 28 on Netflix. You can watch the trailer below.
