Weezer cancels area shows after bus crash

Weezer thought about collaborating with the Jonas Brothers.

“It was the first time we all looked at each other and said ‘no, that’s too crazy, even for us,’” says singer Rivers Cuomo.

Such a partnership probably wouldn’t be crazy enough to surprise fans though, as recent Weezer wingmen have included such disparate talents as Kenny G and Lil Wayne, the latter of whom raps that he hopes “the killer doesn’t take the life of the party” on the track “Can’t Stop Partying,” which Cuomo says is his favorite song on the recently released “Raditude.”

“It shows that Lil Wayne really understood what I was trying to do with the song,” he says of the Weezer/Weezy duet. “It started out as this hip-hop party jam, and I couldn’t stand behind that one hundred percent and feel authentic, so I changed the music, put it in a minor key, and gave it a very haunting feel, which really changed the lyrics without having a change of words, it really puts an ironic twist on the lyric about partying because it is so sad and desperate sounding, and Lil Wayne makes that explicit in the last line of his rap.”

So who is even left that Weezer hasn’t collaborated with?

“There’s a number of people I haven’t had a chance to meet up with yet,” says Cuomo. “I’d love to write a song with Brian Wilson, Burt Bacharach or Lady Gaga.”

Musicians aren’t the only ones who have partnered with Weezer for the new album. The group also released a limited edition of the sleeved blanket known as the Snuggie.

“We were just looking for crazy ideas,” says Cuomo. “One year it was teaming up with the Internet celebrities in our video for ‘Pork and Beans.’ This year it’s the Snuggie. Back in the day it was featuring the cast from ‘Happy Days’ in our video for ‘Buddy Holly.’”
