We live in an age of gritty reboots, so this seemed kind of inevitable. Director Joseph Kahn ("Torque," "Detention") brings the goofy, kid-friendly "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" into that age in a dark, action-filled but thoroughly tongue-in-cheek 14-minute short called "Power/Rangers" starring Katie Sackhoff and James Van Der Beek because sure, why not? Even the theme tune gets a dirty dubstep revamp. But you know, as gritty and realistic as you make it and as bloody as it can get, the uniforms still look pretty silly.
