Tax records obtained by Radar Online show that the Smith’s Will Smith Foundation was issued a $1.2 million refund in 2013 for cash that had been donated to the New Village Leadership Academy, a suspiciously Scientologist-friendly school near Los Angeles that shuttered that same year. A former Church leader insists the refund comes because the Smiths are no longer members of the controversial religious organization, and tax records for Smith’s foundation show donations from 2013 to several Christian schools and Baptist churches.
