Will there be a Rick and Morty secret Christmas episode?

Remember when Mr. Poopybutthole, after the dramatic cliff-hanger finale to Season 2’s “The Wedding Squanchers,” said that Rick and Morty would return in, “like a year and a half?”

Well, that was on October 4, 2015. Exactly one year, five months and 28 days later, the Season 3 premiere aired.

After the Season 3 finale back on October 1, to no ones surprise, Mr. Poopybutthole appeared during the kicker of “The Rickchurian Candidate,” this season’s finale, providing some odd information.

“See ya for Season 4 in like, a really long time. I might even have a big white Santa Claus Beard,” the character said in his zainy-gleeful yet sarcastic voice.

So is this proof that there is another episode left in Season 3?

Scrolling through an entire, enormously contentious Reddit feed on the subject, there is some evidence to support the idea. First, Season 3 was initially supposed to contain 14 episodes. But as sometime shappens with television shows, the output went down to 10. At least we think.

The show also has aired new episodes before literally without anyone knowing. The first episode of the third season was on Cartoon Network, as well as the web, during an extremely well-thought out reverse April Fool’s Day joke. The episode was on TV all day long with no ramp up or advertising, months ahead of the rest of the season’s airing starting in July or 2017.

Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland and the rest of the Rick and Morty team mess with fans all the time. Many descriptions of episodes were completely counter to what was on the show — most notably a headfake toward a third interdimentional cable that would up being “Morty’s Mind Blowers.”

It was also emphasized that Evil Morty — who reemerged this season — would indeed appear in the finale. He was not in Episode 10.

It’s not inconceivable that more is coming. And if it helps, Christmas Eve is a Sunday night — Rick and Morty’s regular airdate.
