The queen of bubble gum-meets-politically-charged pop has been a little eccentric lately.
At last night’s Brit Awards, Katy Perry delivered a head-scratching performance of her new single “Chained to the Rhythm.”
First, there was the fact that she was accompanied by backup dancers wearing white cut-out houses, which is all fine and weird — until one of them toppled off the stage.

Left shark?Left sharkwas benign, charming, and un-accident prone. Those were simpler times.
Secondly, she also shared the stage with two giant, dancing skeleton puppets, which the internet has decided are stand-ins for UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Donald Trump. Here they are in GIF-form:
And then there’s the matter of her red carpet interview, in which she does her best kooky-pilled-up-aunt-at-Thanksgiving routine. On the Facebook Live stream, she’s shown strutting around and spouting nonsense, as hosts George Shelley and Lilah Parsons watched on bemused.
“Are we live? Are we on Facebook live? Is this the social media that does everything? Shout out, Mark Zuckerberg,” the 32-year-old rambled.
When Shelley asked if she was nervous, Perry replied, “No, I take pills for that stuff!” She also insulted Parsons’ teeth, barked at Shelley like a little kid throwing a tantrum after he tried to redirect her never-ending, TMI account of having the flu at the last Brit Awards, and made things extremely awkward when they tried to end the interview: “You’re going to let me go? You’re fired. I’m firing you.”
Okay, Katy. If only we could go back to the days of "Teenage Dream."
