#EverydayHorrors places scary characters in commonplace NYC scenes

The world is a scary place on its own: Donald Trump is running for president, after all. But when Halloween rolls around, many folks go out of their way to spook themselves further, be it watching “The Babadook” home alone or attending Blood Manor.

Sometimes it’s fun to be half-spooked, just to get into the season. For a light scare that’s more campy than creepy, have a lookat a new photo exhibit from Brooklyn-based photographer Jason Shaltzcalled#EverydayHorrors, whichimagines our favorite scary movie characters in quotidien New York scenes.

The show, which debuts Friday, Oct. 21, at Urban Folk Art Gallery in Boerum Hill, consists of 30 prints showing the likes of Ghostface from “Scream” doing a wheelie on a Citibike, Freddy Krueger reading The New York Times on a stoop, Jason perusing products at the Apple Store, and Leatherface riding the subway.

Freaky in real life; fun to imagine.

Friday, Oct. 21,7-10 p.m.
