A former Boston University hockey standout pleaded guilty today to groping his resident adviser in a dorm last year.
Corey Trivino, 22, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and battery and one count of trespassing during a hearing today at Brighton District Court, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office.
A judge agreed with the prosecutor’s recommended sentence of two years probation. His conditions of his sentence include that he must remain alcohol-free, submit to random urine testing, attending weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, undergo a mental health evaluation and to have no contact with the victim.
Prosecutors said that on Dec. 11 the 23-year-old resident adviser asked Trivino and others to quiet down because they were being loud and boisterous during mandatory quiet hours.
“Testimony would have shown that Trivino walked back to the victim’s room with her and groped her after she told him to leave. Trivino left, only to return a few minutes later,” prosecutors said.
That’s when the resident adviser opened her door and he assaulted her again. At one point Trivino sat down on the bed and said he was going to sleep there that night, according to prosecutors.
Trivino was kicked off of the hockey team after the allegations were made.
Earlier this year, prosecutors dropped one charge of assault with intent to rape facing Trivino. They said there was a lack of evidence.
Another hockey player was accused of sexual assault earlier this year, but prosecutors later dropped those charges after a lack of evidence.
However, the accusations prompted the university to form a task force to examine the hockey culture on campus.
