Long Island Rail Road riders should expect significant service disruptions this weekend.
No trains are running between Hicksville and Mineola because the Ellison Avenue Bridge in Westbury is being demolished. The outage is expected to affect an estimated 40,000 LIRR riders.
There are special timetables for all LIRR branches. Buses replace some of the trains, and other trains are being rerouted.
The MTA is urging riders to plan for an additional hour of travel time, and avoid the Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson branches.
