Experience the world at home

Forget buying an airplane ticket — this weekend, you can experience the music, song and dance of countries from the four corners of the globe right at home in the city.

Ottawa’s international folkloric festival, the Carnival of Cultures takes place at Vincent Massey Park Saturday and Sunday.

More than 400 performers from Ottawa and around the world will offer audiences over 50 live and colourful shows for only $5 each day.

“During the summer, so many people want to travel all over the world to visit different countries and experience the cultures of those countries,” said festival spokesman Levi Valliers.

Valliers said the unique festival not only celebrates cultures from around the world, but works to promote the creative and artistic development of artists as well who define and give new meaning to folk art.

“The best part of the festival for me is being able to get all these cultures together,” said Valliers.
