Explosion on 4 train

About 400 riders were trapped on a 4-train last night that suddenly stopped and filled with smoke after an explosion.

The train came to a halt at about 9:30 p.m. between the Bowling Green and Borough Hall stations.

Stuck underneath the East River, the train filled with smoke, according to reports, and a few riders screamed.

The riders sat on the car for over an hour, according to reports, before they were put on another subway and taken back to Bowling Green.

The MTA did not release the cause of the explosion.
