Ezekiel Elliott burst onto the NFL stage in September and he has led the Cowboys to the best record in the NFC to this point in the 2016 season.

During the time in which Elliott rose to pro football prominence, however, a security representative for the NFL – Edward DuBois – sent an email to Aventura, Florida police regarding an alleged domestic violence incident from February 2016.

USA Today Sports obtained the email this week. The Sept. 28, 2016 email read:

Dear Division Commander Fogelgren: I obtained your name and email address from the Aventura Police web site. I conduct all investigations in South Florida for the NFL. I am currently conducting a possible player misconduct investigation of Ezekiel Elliott, born July 22, 1995, he is a running back for the Dallas Cowboys. [Alleged victim] reports that Elliott abused her in February of 2016 in Aventura. She claims that she called the Aventura Police via 911 and that officers arrived but decided not to arrest Elliott. I am interested in obtaining as much information as possible about this matter including the incident report, arrest report (if any) and copy of the 911 call.

Please let me know if you need anything from me. The NFL is very aggressive in it’s investigation of this conduct so please respond as soon as possible.

Your kind cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
