The Buffalo Sabres signed Victor Olofsson to a two-year deal worth $6.1 million, avoiding arbitration with the forward.

Olofsson was set to become a restricted free agent, and his arbitration hearing was scheduled for Nov. 4.

As a rookie last season, the 25-year-old Swede had 42 points (20 goals, 22 assists) in 54 games. He was named to the league’s all-rookie team.

He is the third Sabres player to sign in lieu of arbitration, joining forward Sam Reinhart and goaltender Linus Ullmark.

The Sabres selected Olofsson in the seventh round of the 2014 NHL Draft.
