Famed TV psychic Miss Cleo dies at 53

Miss Cleo, the famous psychic known for her unforgettable TV commercials, passed away Tuesday morning at age 53.

The iconic spokeswoman for Psychic Readers Network died from colon cancer that spread to her liver and lungs, according to TMZ.

Miss Cleo, born Youree Dell Harris, was recently hospitalized and discharged to a hospice center last week.

A rep for the psychic told TMZ that Cleo remained a “pillar of strength” during her illness and passed away surrounded by loved ones.

Cleo is known for bellowing out, “CALL ME NOW!” in a Jamaican accent on her commercials. It was later revealed that her accent wasn’t authentic and merely perfected as part of a marketing campaign. She was actually born in Los Angeles, according to theSun Sentinel.

After stepping away from the public eye when her network was charged with deceptive advertising, billing, and collection practices in 2002, Miss Cleo reemerged four years later to discuss her sexual orientation.

“I’ve been gay since I was about 16. I went to an all girl’s boarding school and loved my mother for it. She would die if she heard that but she’s already dead so it doesn’t matter,” she told Indiewire.
