Do
Dalvin Cook, RB, Vikings
Absolutely everything you hear out of Minnesota regarding Cook is over-the-top positive. Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmer is one of the more run-happy OCs in the NFL and should give Cook the ball early and often to start the season. The Vikings have “bounce back” season written all over them to boot, so Cook could emerge as the perfect RB2 for you all year.
Draft him in the fourth round
Mike Williams, WR, Chargers
Williams will produce for a Chargers passing attack led by the always-underrated Philip Rivers. Williams found the end zone 11 times for Clemson last season and could quickly emerge as the top red zone threat for Rivers.
Draft him in the 9th round
Corey Davis, WR, Titans
Believe the hype when it comes to Davis, the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Most of the reason we’re so high on Davis is that Marcus Mariota is poised to become a top 10 fantasy quarterback in his third season. The ultra-aggressive Davis fights for every ball and should quickly become Mariota’s No. 1 target.
Draft him in the sixth round
Don’t
JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Steelers
The Steelers’ offense is just too jumbled right now for Smith-Schuster to put up monster numbers. Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant and Eli Rodgers are ahead of him on the depth chart, and that doesn’t even factor in that Le’Veon Bell is a big part of the Pittsburgh passing attack.
Don’t draft
Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints
Yup, he’s a pass-catching back who plays for the pass-happy Saints, but he’s not going to see the field much with Adrian Peterson and Mark Ingram on the roster.
Hold off until 16th round to draft
Joe Mixon, RB, Bengals
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis doesn’t much like change. Particularly early in the year, watch for Lewis to continue to give the brunt of touches to Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill. If the Bengals get off to an ugly start (which is entirely possibly given the 2017 expectations in Cincy), then we might get a full dose of Mixon – assuming he keeps his head on straight that long.
Hold off until seventh round to draft
Christian McCaffrey, RB, Panthers
RB/WR are always enticing but it will take awhile for McCaffrey to wrestle carries away from incumbent Jonathan Stewart. Yup, Stewart is still in Carolina. It seems like he’s been there since the Dom Capers era, but this is his ninth year and he’s only 30-years-old. Yeah, 30 is old for a running back but all indications are that Stewart has two more solid years in him. I think McCaffrey will be good, just not immediately.
