Fantasy Football injuries, sit/start: latest on Cam Newton, Leonard Fournette, Rob Gronkowski

Patriots, Brandin Cooks, Rob Gronkowski

It’s time to lock in those rosters for Week 5. Here’s a rundown of the latest on some key fantasy athletes like Cam Newtn, Ty Montgomery, Leonard Fournette and others:

Cam Newton, QB, Panthers

Newton was limited in practice due to a shoulder injury, following the best offensive output on the year for the typically mobile singal-caller. More will be known about Newton’s status as Sunday approaches, but the QB wasn’t allowed to speak with the media after his public relations mess up on Wednesday. Be prepared to start your back up just in case.

Ty Montgomery, RB, Packers

The Packers running back has a few injured ribs but is fighting through them.

“I thought Ty practiced well [Wednesday],” Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. “He’s going to practice [Thursday], and we’ll keep evaluating.”

Keep your eye on back up Jamaal Williams just in case.

Leonard Fournette, RB, Jaguars

Nursing a sore ankle, the rookie running back has been limited in practice this week. His strength, regardless of whether he plays or not, in the Jags’ Week 5 game Sunday could effect his production.

Sam Bradford, QB, Vikings

Will Bradford play? The extra day of rest — the Vikings play Monday — will help. Bradford is slowly getting back into game-shape in practice and there is a good chance he suits up in Week 5.

Rob Gronkowski, TE, Patriots

Another week, another injury for Gronk. This time it is for a thigh injury that will cost him Week 5 — as Adam Schefter and others are reporting that he will not suit up in the Thursday Night game against the Buccaneers.

Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree, WR, Raiders

Both of Oakland’s struggling wide outs were limited in practice this week, as Cooper works through a chest injury and Crabtree a knee. Both should play in Week 5.
