Fantasy football is supposed to be fun. We often forget that when going through heart-wrenching lineup decisions and brutal bad beats.
But you know what is fun? Thinking about who will be next year’s hot prospects. Here’s a look at the
way-too-early 2013 top-10:
Unstoppable
The word “unstoppable” gets thrown around way too much in sports. But Adrian?Peterson defines it. Defenses put eight or nine men in the box and Peterson still goes for 150 yards weekly. Obviously healthy now, he’s the No. 1 overall pick. Next up is Arian Foster, who runs behind the best run-blocking line in football. And Calvin?Johnson is No. 3 because similar to Peterson, defenses designed to stop him can’t. He beats punt gunner coverage and box-and-one schemes.
Backs that catch
As a rookie, Doug Martin proved he can carry a three-down workload and sustain explosion in a run-heavy offense. There’s no downside at No. 4 with him. At No. 5, C.J. Spiller deserves a look. Either Chan Gailey will realize Spiller needs 20 touches per game or he’ll end up canned. Rounding out this middle group are Ray Rice and Jamaal Charles –two backs that are their team’s focal point and are big-time players in the passing game.
Position scarcity
You can win with at least 12 different quarterbacks. Owners are riding the likes of Andrew Luck and Andy Dalton into championship games this year. That’s why the only quarterback in next year’s top-10 is Robert Griffin III. But at tight end, it’s another story these days. We can barely trust anyone these days, making Rob?Gronkowski a top-9 option. Round out the list at ten is Marshawn Lynch, who won’t turn 27 until April.
