Nassau County police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurredTuesday night on Long Island.
Police said Wednesday that Patricia Ward, 66, a professor at Farmingdale State College, was killed by her son, 35 year old Derek Ward, after 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Derek Ward then dragged his mother’s body outside of their apartment at 130 Secatogue Ave. Her head was found about 5 feet from her body, police said. Ward then walked to the train tracks, and was hit and killed by an eastbound Long Island Rail Road near Clinton Avenue. The investigation continues.
