Jenny Packham’s collection for Spring 2015 at New York Fashion Week was an homage to Marilyn Monroe.

The designer: Jenny Packham
The look: Retro Hollywood
The runway: Sparkling hand-sewn embellishments added some cachet to classic silhouettes at Packham, whose line featured mostly calf-length dresses with ¾ sleeves in an overt homage to Marilyn Monroe and 1950s girly glam. Plenty of nude in sheer panels, shoes and makeup drove home the point: Packham’s collection is designed to let the girl in the gown do the talking.
Insta-worthy: A lustrous chocolate-colored but almost-metallic ball gown
The takeaway: Visit a consignment shop — or the back of grandma’s closet — for your spring galas.
