Taking any late night subway rides in Brooklyn this week? Plan carefully. The MTA’s FASTRACK program comes back to the R line with repairs from 10pm to 5am starting Monday, July 27 for four consecutive nights, and again the week after, Aug 3, to finish up early in the morning on Friday, Aug 7.

The R train will not stop at stations between Bay Ridge 95th St and 36th St in Bay Ridge and Sunset Park. R trains will also be skipping Union St, 4th Ave-9th St, and 25th St stations in both directions.

Alternate travel option include free shuttle buses running between Bay Ridge 95th St and 59th St, stopping at each station in between — 86th St, 77th St, and Bay Ridge Ave. D trains will run local between Atlantic Ave and 36th St, and N train will run local between Atlantic Ave and 59th St. A free transfer from shuttle buses to the N at 59th St is available.

And although travel disruptions are a pain in the neck, the MTA would like you to remember that maintenance is always worth spending time on.

“Our FASTRACK efforts have been highly successful in repairing and maintaining a subway system that provides a safer work environment for the hundreds of employees working in tunnels and stations to repair and replace components that are vital,” said Joseph Leader, Senior Vice President for the Department of Subways.

Last year in Sept, FASTRACK repairs on the same line resulted in 3,200 square feet of new painted station areas, 2,200 feet of track cleaned, 312 new track plates and 85 new light bulbs. Signals were tested, handrails were replaced, and leaky drips were filled with grout, according to the MTA.
