They may be suggestive, but state child welfare officials say videos featuring 10-year-old rapper ‘Lil Poopy’ don’t amount to abuse and neglect.
The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families has closed its case against Luis Rivera of Brockton. His son, Luie, is the budding young rapper whose YouTube videos show the self-proclaimed “coke boy” slapping women’s buttocks and partying in nightclubs.
Brockton Police filed a complaint with DCF, prompting the probe, after the Brockton Enterprise first reported about Lil Poopy in February.
“After a thorough investigation, the Department did not find evidence to support the allegations of abuse or neglect,” DCF spokeswoman Cayenne Isaksen said in a statement Thursday. “The decision followed interviews with members of the family, school officials and medical professionals.”
Rivera family lawyer Joseph Krowski Jr. said it was a “complete vindication.”
“I think DCF knew all along that he was in a good stable home,” Krowski told the Enterprise. “The family is relieved that it’s over and expected that it would go this way.”
According to Krowski, the publicity has boosted Lil Poopy’s career.
“There’s calls from all over the world coming in constantly so there’s a lot to sort through,” Krowski said. “I think the family wants to wait until the school year is over, but the media comes with being in the music industry.”
