The FDNY’s dispatch system suffered a major malfunction on Monday afternoon when it went down for nearly two hours.

The system, which prioritizes 911 calls and assigns emergencies to ambulance teams, reportedly went dark at around 2:30 p.m., prompting dispatchers to write calls down on paper before providing relevant details to EMT teams over the radio.

With dispatchers staying late to spread information properly, the system went back online at around 4:10 p.m.Fire department spokesman Jim Long confirmed the outage to DNAinfo, admitting that “we haven’t outages for a while.”
