Dee Milliner is back on the field and appears to be back from an Achilles injury suffered last year.

Milliner hadn’t participated in offseason workouts or minicamp in July as the Jets young cornerback continues an NFL career beset by injuries. On Saturday he returned to the field and said that he felt fine with no limitations, something he backed up with his play as he looked good, fluid in his movement and broke well to the ball.

He said he wasn’t surprised by his solid showing when he spoke to the media on Saturday.

“Not really, Like I said, ‘cus working hard trying to get back to ball,” Milliner said. “Just got to be consistent with it, and continue to build from today.”

It is a huge training camp for Milliner, entering his third year in the league after being a first round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. His rookie year started shaky with injuries and several benchings but then leveled off. There seemed like promise as he put together several nice performances to close out his rookie year.

Last year he had training camp injuries again but seemed improved until that Achilles tear last October.

Now with the Jets signing Pro Bowl cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie this offseason along with Buster Skrine to play in the slot, Milliner might be forced into a reserve role this year.

“I don’t know, when they tell me to get out there, I get out there,” Milliner said. “We’re not doing any gameplanning yet so we won’t know till closer to the season.”

On Saturday while watching red zone drills, Milliner knelt down next to Revis and Cromartie, clearly taking the moment to soak up their knowledge.

But it was a good first day back for Milliner, who said that in terms of the plan for the day that “I did everything they asked me to do” and that there were no limitations.
