Fire forces residents from condominium complex

Residents of a downtown condominium high rise were forced out of their homes for 90 minutes Thursday by a fire in a fourth-floor unit.

Emergency services responded to the call at 154 Nelson St. at around 4:15 p.m.

Firefighters in six pumper trucks and three ladder trucks managed to contain the fire to one unit on the fourth floor of the building. It was extinguished by 4:43 p.m.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene, but there were no injuries.

By 5:30 p.m., residents were allowed to re-enter the building while investigators remained on scene attempting to determine the cause of the fire.
