A Fitchburg man was shot and killed at about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday near Milk Street and Otis Street according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early.

Officers responded to a report of a gunshot fired near Milk Street and Alston Place and found Roy Rivera, 24, of 66 Fairmont St. slumped over in the front seat of a car with a gunshot wound. Rivera received CPR and was taken to Leominster Hospital where he was pronounced dead from the gunshot.

Police do not believe that this murder was a random act, and suspect a connection to an illegal drug transaction.
