When racing is all you’ve ever known, like racecar driver JR Fitzpatrick, you’ve got a one-track mind.
“I like the speed, the competition,” the Cambridge, Ont. native said. “It’s a cool deal.”
Fitzpatrick rolls into town this weekend to compete in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series action as part of Honda Indy Weekend.
It’s a track he knows well, having won the 2007 event in Alberta’s capital. He is hoping to overcome a couple of disappointing results this season.
Most notable was last weekend in Toronto when he was running third but was clipped by a fellow driver and finished eighth.
That being said, Fitzpatrick says his approach is no different whether racing on home soil or abroad.
“Really I still look at (driving in Canada) the same as I would driving in the States,” he said.
