Five people in hospital after two stabbing incidents

Two separate stabbing incidents in a 15-minute time span Tuesday night sent five people to hospital with serious injuries.

At around 9 a.m., police and paramedics were called to the 100 block of Woodridge Crescent near the Bayshore Shopping Centre in the west end, where they found two males suffering from stab wounds, police said Wednesday.

Two males were approached by a group of at least four other males, said Ottawa police Const. J.P. Vincelette.

An altercation allegedly ensued and two males were seriously injured, he said.

One victim is in critical condition in hospital; the other is in serious condition.

Police were interviewing the victims Wednesday afternoon, but no arrests have been made, Vincelette said.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information can call police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5849.

At around 9:16 p.m., police and paramedics attended an incident in the 1000 block of Harkness Avenue at Pauline Vanier Park in the south end.

Paramedics treated one male victim for a stab wound to the leg and a second male for facial lacerations. Paramedics said a third person was also treated.

Vincelette said police arrested six people in the incident, but no charges have been laid as of Wednesday.
