THE SKINNY: The Flames snapped a three-game losing streak on the road by edging the Stars in a tight-checking affair.
THE DEFLECTION: Craig Conroy got his stick on a Dion Phaneuf point shot to tip it past Dallas goalie Marty Turco at 12:21 of the second period.
THE QUOTE: “I thought I touched it, but I wasn’t sure,” Craig Conroy said during a Flames Pay-Per-View interview while watching a replay of the game-winning goal.
THE SNIPER: After going without a goal for six straight games, Jarome Iginla scored for the second straight game when he snapped a pass from Jordan Leopold past Turco in the opening frame. With 33 goals, the Calgary captain now trails Michael Cammalleri by three for the team lead in that department.
GOING POSTAL: Shortly after Fabian Brunnstrum put the Stars up 1-0 in the first period, Todd Bertuzzi had a great chance to score on a breakaway, but backhanded a shot off the crossbar
THE MASH UNIT: With Cory Sarich already out of the lineup after taking a hard shot by San Jose’s Joe Thornton off his ankle during Monday’s 2-1 loss to the Sharks, the Flames received more bad news on the injury front when Robyn Regehr left the game in the second period and didn’t return.
THE SECOND QUOTE: “It was tough to see (Regehr) go out,” Iginla told reporters after the game. “He’s such a big part of our team.”.
THE NEXT GAME: The Flames don’t have much time to rest as they’ll face the Minnesota Wild Friday (6 p.m., Rogers Sportsnet, Fan 960) at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. Calgary will be looking to improve upon its record of 2-8-1 in the second game of contests on back-to-back nights this season.
