For Do Something Nice Day on Oct. 5, Dominique Ansel is throwing a party at his bakery with butler service, refreshments and live entertainment — but the highlight will be a free specialty boozy Cookie Shot, which swaps milk for Baileys Chocolate Cherry liqueur. Taco Day deal

Tres Carnes is stretching National Taco Day over the entire weekend, giving away one free taco with the purchase of any two tacos, like the 16-hour smoked brisket or the Weekly Smoke selection from Beef Cheeks. Meet April Bloomfield

The James Beard Foundation’s Taste of America tour is making a circuit of Sur La Table stores in the Top 10 American food cities, with notable local chefs putting on a cooking demonstration. In honor of what’s considered the biggest public holiday in China, Hakkasan New Yorkis featuring a special chef’s menu cateringspecifically to traditional Chinese tastes, from the Peking duck and caviar appetizer to the black sesame and chocolate dumplings with ginger and yuzu tea dessert. Now open: Morsi

Named for the small and shared plates at the heart of its menu, Morsi (Italian for “bites”) is now open in Tribeca. The bright space, which features a vertical garden on two self-irrigating plant walls, serves boldly flavored Italian fare like veal tongue; an of-the-season branzino with guanciale, prosciutto butter and pumpkin; and several parmigiana-style preparations. 22 Warren St.

Dinner with Kehinde Wiley

The painter, who began his career in Harlem and is known for vibrant and naturalistic portraits, will sit down for an intimate discussion at Ginny’s Supper Club on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. The accompanying nine-course meal by chef Marcus Samuelsson will track Wiley’s works through Haiti, Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro and more. 310 Lenox Ave.
