This is my last review before I mosey off to Toronto, and lunches like the one I had at the corner suite bistro de luxe are just one of the reasons I’m sad to go.
The restaurant just started serving lunch, consisting of one the most simple but best executed deals in the city: Soup and a sandwich for $10. Or get beer instead of soup for the same price.
Their fixed menu changes daily. I got a pumpkin soup along with a prosciutto sandwich.
The soup was thick and smooth with a delicate, but well-seasoned, flavour.
The bistro makes much of each sandwich ingredient, and rightly so. You can distinctively taste the inclusion of lemon butter, smoky cooked prosciutto, salty aged cheddar and greens.
Service is fast and friendly, but with no one else in the dining room for most of my lunch it’s hard to tell what would happen in a lunch rush.
