Hot Chocolate Festival

Ease your gloomy Monday with City Bakery’s Hot Chocolate Festival, which iswell underway but this week will feature some of our most anticipated flavors: chili pepper, darkest dark, a “love potion” for Valentine’s Day and something dubbed only “sunken treasure” on Sunday. 3 W. 18th St.

Beer, pickles and cheese tasting benefit

Good causes aren’t cheesy, but this dinner will be. Jacob’s Pickles is holding a beer, pickles and cheese tasting this Tuesday to benefit the West Side Campaign Against Hunger, a food pantry, counseling service and chef training school all under one roof. Jacob’s is bringing the grub,Long Island’s Barrier Brewery is bringing the beers. Jacob’s is also supporting WSCAH all month long by donating a portion of the proceeds from their newest cocktail, Tennessee Honey Suckle (Dickel #12, orange preserves, clover honey, lemonade, $12).

Regional Grains Project

GrowNYC’s Regional Grains Project continues its month-long residency with Breuckelen Distilling at SingL Lounge. This month, the venue’s ongoing tasting series is highlighting distilleries that use grains from the Northeast. Learn about the distilling process and how local producers are leading a grain renaissance in the region. Next up will be Hudson Whiskey/Tuthilltown (Feb. 17) and NY Distilling Company (Feb. 24). Tickets include samples of three spirits and snacks.

NBA All-Star Weekend fundraiser for arts and athletics

The All-Star game returns to NYC this year, but before tip-off the Spurs’ Matt Bonner and company are putting in some quality time at chef Danny Bowien’s table to raise money for promising artists and athletes. Salt Cod Fried Rice and Thrice Cooked Bacon are all on the menu this Thursday at the newly reopened Mission Chinese Food. The fare will be paired with “off-centered brews” by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. The San Antonio Spurs’ Matt Bonner will host, and the evening will benefit the Rock On Foundation and the MacDowell Colony‘s Voices of Change initiative.

Pho Pop-Up

San Francisco’s The Slanted Door is taking up residency at the Wythe Hotel to serve its Vietnamese noodle soups for three days of first come, first served dinners to test your cronut-honed line-standing skills. To thaw you out, there will be family-style appetizers, three kinds of soup and Southern offal porridge. Dinner is prix fixe (check out the full menu), but if you need something stronger to cut the cold, the Slanted Door team are also bringing their signature cocktails.
