Force India names Bianchi as backup F1 driver

PARIS – The Force India team says Jules Bianchi will be its reserve driver in the 2012 Formula One season, providing backup to Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg.

Force India says on its website that the 22-year-old Frenchman will be involved in a minimum of nine Friday practice sessions during Grand Prix weekends over the season.

Bianchi will try out the VJM05 car for the first time in pre-season testing next month.

Bianchi says “I hope it will put me in a strong position to one day move into a race seat.”
