According to reports, former Jets quarterback Erik Ainge was arrested by the Knoxville Police Department on Sunday morning on DUI charges.

Ainge, who was a star quarterback at Tennessee and is now a popular radio host in the Knoxville area, has very openly spoken about his past battles with substance abuse and his time in rehab.

Earlier this month, Ainge drew media attention for his comments regarding former Jets teammate Mark Sanchez and a recent video that showed Sanchez partying and dancing with his rear end exposed. Ainge worried about whether Sanchez was surrounded by good people who could help him out of making poor decisions.

Ainge went on to say, “He’s dumb about it. He’s stupid while being stupid. You have to be smart while being stupid, and he’s dumb while being dumb.”

He posted bail and was released early Sunday morning.

Ainge, the nephew of Celtics general manager Danny Ainge, was a member of the Jets from 2008-10. He did not play in any regular season games.
