Franco Garcia: Police confirm body was missing BC student

State officials confirmed the body of a man found in the Chestnut Hill Reservoir Wednesday was that of Boston College student Franco Garcia.

According to a report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, while the cause of death has not been determined pending further toxicological testing, an examination of Garcia’s body did not reveal any broken bones or other significant injury.

Based on the preliminary examination, along with cash and other personal items found on Garcia, police said it appears the 21-year-old student may have accidentally fallen into the water.

An investigation remains ongoing, according to police.

Garcia went missing on Feb. 22 after leaving a bar in Cleveland Circle.

His family held a vigil Wednesday night after police discovered a body earlier in the day, floating in the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, seven weeks after the popular Boston College student disappeared.
