Free breakfast draws hundreds

With hundreds of faithful lined up around the corner, many asked said they were waiting for the best Stampede breakfast in the city.

Expected to serve more than 3,500 people, the Western Canada Place breakfast downtown on 9 Avenue and 6 Street was a big hit amongst the crowds.

“I work in the building and I bring my kids every year because they really love it,” Sandra L. said.

When asked what his favourite part of the breakfast was, her five-year-old said, “Eating.”
Those at the end of the long line didn’t seem to mind the wait.

“This breakfast is worth it … lots of good food and good people and that’s what the 10 days of Stampede is about,” Craig Kurst said, adding he had been in line for 20 minutes.

Pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage and hashbrowns were just part of the hearty breakfast devoured, he added.

Paul Hilton said he didn’t know there was even a breakfast but got in line when he found out.
“Who wouldn’t want a free breakfast?” he said. “And I heard it’s really good.”
