Friends remember bus beheading victim at vigil, marking a year since his death

WINNIPEG – Friends have gathered in Winnipeg to light candles and share stories of Tim McLean and mark a year since his murder.

McLean was stabbed and beheaded aboard a Greyhound bus last July in front of horrified passengers.

But friends who gathered at the Manitoba legislature on Thursday focused on his life, rather than his death.

Jessica Kehler, McLean’s girlfriend, said he always managed to make her smile no matter how sad she was.

Doug Mitchell, who organized the vigil, said nothing could keep McLean down.

Vince Li was found not criminally responsible for the killing and is now in a mental institution.
