People who ordered VANOC’s newly published commemorative book of the 2010 Games will be getting a slightly different version than the one they saw online.
At least two of the photos on the book’s cover appear to be from the 2006 Torino Games, at least on amazon.ca, chapters.indigo.ca and the website of the book’s publisher, Toronto-based Wiley & Sons.
The photos in question include a female athlete displaying her medal, which is on a lanyard that says “Torino 2006,” and a woman wearing one of the official toques worn by the Canadian Olympic team in Italy.
Sandra Temple, communications specialist with VANOC, said that cover was a mockup and the wrong image was marketed online.
“The publisher and our partner John Wiley & Sons, Inc. will update the images (today),” Temple said.
The 400-page coffee table book includes 12,000 photos and is available in hard cover for $85.
