Gatineau Park beaches open for season

The National Capital Commission officially opened Gatineau Park beaches for the summer season over the weekend.

Until Sept. 7, residents and visitors will have daily access to O’Brien, Blanchet, Breton, Parent and La Pêche beaches from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Gatineau Park.

Entry fees to beaches at Meech, Philippe and La Pêche Lakes in Gatineau Park are $9 per automobile or $60 for a season’s pass. Canoes, kayaks and other non-motorized vessel facilities are available for rent at both La Pêche and Philippe Lakes, with bicycles available for rent at Philippe Lake.

Swimmers have access to washrooms, change rooms, barbecues and picnic tables. Lifeguards will be on site during these duty hours to ensure public safety.

Swimmers are asked to stay in swimming areas defined by buoys for their own safety.

Leamy Lake Beach remains closed until further notice due to overly high water levels that could put swimmers at risk. To ensure public safety, there will be no lifeguards on duty until the official opening.
