Witch’s Woods

Located in Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, about a 50-minute drive west of Boston, Witch’s Woods includes a haunted house, haunted hayride and Halloween Screampark. For a dose of pretty, there’s the Jack O’Lantern Jamboree — every night, hundreds of professionally carved pumpkins will illuminate Witch’s Woods. Behind it all is the faux (we think) “legend” of a battle between a coven of good witches who guard an ancient portal to evil supernatural creatures. Seems the witches flake though, so watch out! There’s also a brand new Vampire Passage installation and this year’s hayride’s theme is a “Post-Apocalyptic Dystopia” — because if there’s one thing scarier than the living dead, it’s the living. Spooky World’s Nightmare New England

Just 45 minutes north of Boston, Spooky World is New England’s largest haunted attraction and one of its oldest. Featuring five separate attractions spread across 80 acres, there’s a mile-long, 20-minute Haunted Hayride through the dark woods of Litchfield. Then the horror set of Brigham Manor, the 3-D Festival of Fear, featuring those truly worrisome evil clowns, Carnage and The Colony.
